Flexi-Boarding

  • Flexi-Boarding

The English School of Ulaanbaatar offers flexi-boarding opportunities for students who would benefit from additional study time, structured evening routines or occasional overnight accommodation during the school week.

Flexi-boarding provides a supportive and well-supervised environment where students can focus on their academic work while enjoying the experience of shared study and community life with their peers.

This option is particularly valuable for families who live further from the school, for students preparing for examinations, or during periods when additional academic focus may be helpful.

Whether it is for a single night or for a full week, students can benefit from a structured and supportive boarding environment that encourages productive study, independence and strong routines. This flexibility allows families to choose arrangements that best suit their schedules while ensuring students remain fully supported both academically and personally.

Students participating in flexi-boarding benefit from:

• Structured evening study sessions

• Quiet spaces for homework and revision

• Access to school facilities and learning resources

• Shared meals and social time with fellow students

• Supervision and guidance from experienced staff

Winter Study and Examination Preparation

In the winter months, when Ulaanbaatar can experience particularly challenging weather and periods of air pollution, flexi-boarding provides a stable and productive environment where students can concentrate on their studies.

Special examination preparation periods may also be organised during key academic times of the year, allowing students to work collaboratively while receiving additional academic support from teachers.

Residential Study Retreats

As part of the school’s broader outdoor education programme, students may also have opportunities to participate in short residential study retreats in the countryside, including locations such as the Terelj National Park area.

These retreats combine focused academic study with outdoor activities, helping students develop independence, teamwork and resilience while enjoying Mongolia’s natural environment.

Through flexi-boarding and residential learning experiences, ESU aims to provide students with the balance of academic focus, community life and personal development that prepares them for success in their studies and beyond.
